Places To Visit

It is the best time to visit Rishikesh’s temples, as both October and November are auspicious months when major Hindu festivals take place, and the temple atmosphere is filled with warmth and mystic vibes.

“Neeelkanth Mahadev,” the temple is regarded as the place where Lord Shiva drank the poison that came from the Angry Ocean. Located 12 kilometers southwest of Rishikesh, it has great mythological importance and beautiful natural features. Another attraction is the Garud Chatti Temple, along the path enveloped in natural trees and small hot spring wells connected by a series of natural water courses, set as the fish pass through them.

The most ancient, holy, and venerated temple of Rishikesh, Bharat Mandir, lies in the heart of the city and is connected with Lord Shree Hrishikesh Narayan, after whom Rishikesh has been named. This pilgrimage site is likened to Badri Nath.

Rajaji National Park is a must-visit for bird- and animal-watchers. This fabulous reserve covers over 800 sq km that spans three districts in Uttaranchal state: Pauri, Dehradun and Haridwar. Go on jeep safaris through the sal jungles, grasslands, and riparian flats. Here you can book early morning and evening safaris: this is when you are most likely to spot elephants, deer, peacocks, and perhaps, if you are lucky, even lynxes or tigers.

Raghunath Temple is located close to Triveni Ghat, in the center of the town. Devoted to Lord Rama, it carries great religious significance. Another place of pilgrimage, named the temple, is Rishikund, a holy hot-water spring. Before offering prayers, pilgrims often take a holy dip here. Together, they provide a glimpse into Rishikesh’s deep spiritual roots and tranquil beauty.
